We took a few more tennis pics since it was the last match of the season and the weather was beautiful. I must say that cheering from the sidelines at the tennis matches is very different from any other sport any of my children have ever played. At swim meets or soccer, football, baseball/softball, or basketball games we can cheer loudly (yell and scream) from the sidelines...we can even give advice to our kids from the sidelines but NOT at tennis. Even the coaches aren't allowed to coach from the sideline during a match. When the players are switching sides the coaches can chat with them for a minute but that's it. We can clap when our side does something really good but there's NO yelling and screaming allowed. It's also considered bad form to clap when the point gained was caused by an unforced error (because you would be cheering the other girl's mistake). Tennis truly is a "gentleman's sport." I kind of like the tamer atmosphere on the sidelines. It's refreshing although sometimes I do have to fight the urge to cheer very loudly (jump up and down, etc.) when Heather or her partner do something really spectacular.
Heather and 3 of her teammates.
