A Home Improvement Project Snowball

You know how a snowball rolling down a hill gets bigger and bigger?   Well, we have a bathroom project that has done the same thing.  It started with our youngest, Brian, trying to sit on the soap dish while in the bathtub.  You probably have the impression that he was taking a bath at the time but you'd be wrong.  He was fully dressed waiting for his turn to brush his teeth and just decided to stand in the bathtub and sit/lean on the soap dish.  I have no idea why.  I don't think I will ever understand why 8-year-old boys do half of the things they do.  Said soap dish broke off the wall pulling tiles with it.  We figured the repair would just be a matter of replacing a few tiles and the soap dish.  Wrong!  Behind those tiles was just plain old sheet rock (not cement board).  We had a professional come give an estimate and it turns out that water has to have been leaking though tiny cracks in the grout for a long time (like since before we moved here) because all the tile work just easily pulled right off of the sheet rock and we could see where water had soaked into the sheet rock.  So now the entire shower area of the bathroom needs to be gutted and re-tiled.  As our budget is really tight right now, and no plumbing needs to be re-done, Brent is going to do this himself.  Here are the "before" pictures.  Well, after being gutted but before the new tile is put in.  I'll take some "during" and "after" pictures as the project progresses.

My Blog

This blog started as a way to let family and friends who don't live close to us see what was going on in our lives. It has also become a kind of family journal/scrapbook. Enjoy!
